Assessment Center offers the General Educational Development (GED) exam on a pre-registration basis to candidates 16 years of age or older. (If you are 16 or 17 years of age, please click here for special instructions.) You must register in person.

Two forms of identification will be required to pre-register and to take the exam. At least one form must be a government issued photo identification and must indicate name, date of birth, and signature; examples are: current New Mexico driver’s license or New Mexico non-driver’s ID, current out-of-state ID or driver’s license or military ID. The second form of identification must verify two of the following: name, photo, date of birth, social security number or a signature. New Mexico residency is not required to test; however, diplomas will be issued only to New Mexico residents. Residency status can be verified by a valid New Mexico driver’s license or a valid New Mexico non-driver’s ID. If neither has been provided, only an official GED transcript of test results will be issued.

To qualify for a New Mexico High School Diploma, you must earn a minimum standard score of 410 in each test and an average standard score of at least 450 in all five tests. If you have tested at another center, we must receive an official transcript before your record will be complete. Please let us know if you have tested before.

If you have tested before and do not provide the correct information on the application, your latest test scores will be invalidated.

If you have special needs and need special GED testing accommodations, please contact Assessment Services at Main Campus prior to registration. Click on the 'Contact Us' button at the left of this web page.

If you have a situation that can prevent you from taking the exam, such as problems with identification or lack of social security number, please discuss this with an examiner prior to registration.Click this link for schedule and requirements for registration information.
