With so many people applying for jobs, it can be tough standing out from the crowd.  In this workshop, Career and Job Placement will go through the job search process and discuss how you can maximize your job search skills to zone in and target those jobs you want.  The second half of the workshop discusses the importance of a professional presence and how you can wow potential employers.

Social media is growing and is here to stay, but did you know that social media can be used to find jobs and connect with potential employers? Introducing LinkedIn; a social media site created exclusively to help you advance your career goals and find your dream job.  LinkedIn is a must-have profile for anyone looking to rapidly advance their career. This workshop can be added to any current workshops for a quick tutorial on what LinkedIn is and how it works.

The Modern Resume 

Preparing a resume is the first step to creating a favorable impression with any future employer. Too often, the basics of researching, writing, and organizing resumes are ignored, but a professional resume can mean the difference between getting or not getting an interview and the job you want. The Modern Resume workshop is an interactive workshop that will teach you how to organize your resume, properly format your resume, and create a resume that is tailored to the desired position. Career Readiness Badging

The Career Readiness Badging course prepares job seekers to find and apply for jobs. It covers the essential components and elements needed for a successful job search. The course will teach job seekers how to prepare a professional resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile. In addition, it teaches job seekers how to use HireCNM, Job Connection Services online job board, and covers the National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) 8 Career Readiness Competencies. Learners will earn badges verifying their learning.
