Location directions:  From CNM Main Campus start out north on Buena Vista Drive SE towards Coal Place SE. Turn right onto Central Ave. SE. Turn left onto Monte Vista Blvd. NE. Turn right onto Lomas Blvd NE. Turn left onto Cardenas Drive NE. End at 1101 Cardenas Drive NE.

Agency description/mission:  To support, strengthen, and empower families with children and youths who have experienced, or are at risk of developing neurobiological, emotional and behavioral challenges, by advocating for systems and service delivery transformation.

Service Learning opportunities:  Students taking MS Publisher or desktop publishing classes, paralegal studies, accounting, or education.  We are very small agency and would like to give our students a real “hands-on” view of what it takes to keep and agency this small open and serving an entire state.

Orientation/Training schedule:  Orientation will take place on the first meeting.  An overview of our mission and vision will be discussed.  So our student will have a firm grasp of why and who we are serving.  A tour of the facility will happen on the first day as well.

Special conditions or requirements:  Students will have to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Number of service learning students needed:  One

Hours of operation when students are needed:  Hours, 9:00 am-5 p.m., will work with student

Minimum hour commitment required:  Weekly: 1.5; Semester: 24



The Service Learning Program is a proud recipient of a Corporation for National and Community Service Grant. The program is also the 1999 National Bellwether award winner and the 2004 Community College National Center for Community Engagement Service Learning and Civic Engagement award winner.
