The School of Communication, Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is an active and growing school at CNM. We have a strong and challenging academic curriculum that is well suited to the needs of CNM’s students today.

Our mission is to offer an accessible broad-based academic curriculum in a student-focused environment. The CHSS curriculum provides students with a foundation for further educational studies, self-expression and critical thinking.

The CHSS division provides arts, communication, social sciences, humanities and education courses to support occupational degree and certificate programs, an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts, Associate of Arts in General Studies, and an Associate of Arts in Fine Arts. CHSS also offers degrees in Elementary Education and Children, Youth & Family Development (CYFD)  with concentrations in Early Childhood Multicultural Education and Family Studies.

CHSS offers transfer guidance to students who wish to continue their studies after completing their work at CNM. CHSS courses are transferable to other degree-granting institutions as freshman and sophomore electives or requirements.  Click here for specific transfer information for CNM students to other New Mexico colleges and universities.
