Greetings! My name is Bettina Eklund. My teaching career began at Taft Middle School in the North Valley, a part of the Albuquerque Public Schools. Although endorsed in several areas, my primary teaching assignment for the next 8 years was in Business Education. I taught keyboarding/computers and yearbook for many years.
During that time I had the opportunity to participate in an internship program to obtain my Master’s Degree in Curriculum in Multicultural Teacher Education (CIMTE). As the years went by I took on more leadership roles at the school, department chair, committee chair, etc. which prompted me to become an administrator. I once again entered an internship program through UNM and obtained my Ed.S. in Administration in 1996.
My administrative career has led me through two principalships, staffing consultant with Human Resources and now managing Supplemental Educational Services for APS in at 46 school sites.
Working in the field of education opens many doors for us and offers us many opportunities to learn and grow professionally throughout our educational careers!
