I never liked school. In fact, I may have even despised it. But those experiences in the cauldron of public schooling forged in me a deep desire to affect change for future generations. I truly believe that what we want for our classrooms says a lot about what we want for society at large. That at the heart of quality teaching lies the desire to connect the life of the child to the experiences in the classroom, such that the distinctions between learning and life are permanently blurred.
I have taught grades K-5th, both here in Albuquerque and in New York City. The opportunity to teach at CNM has only strengthened my desire to address issues of equity and meaningful practice in education.
I have a B.A. in Latin American Studies from Oberlin College and a M.S.Ed. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from the Bank Street College of Education. I have no free time, but if I did I would spend it at the bowling alley.
