French language courses at CNM are offered at the beginning and intermediate levels.
Beginning French I - Fren 1101
There is no prerequisite for this course.
The objective of this introductory French 1101 course is to learn to communicate in French. We will study vocabulary words and grammar rules with this end in mind. Students will develop skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the French language at a basic level. The majority of class time will be spent practicing these skills by working as a class, with partners or in small groups. In addition to language acquisition, this class will also place importance on cultural awareness of the francophone world.

Prerequisite French 1101 or permission of instructor - continues course of study begun in French 1101
Intermediate French I - Fren 2201
Prerequisite French 1102 or permission of instructor - emphasizes enhancement of skills from French 1102 and further knowledge of the language and culture of France
