Domain Name Change August 19th, 2006



As part of the final steps to complete the name change from TVI to CNM, the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) will be changing the name of CNM’s internal domains:  admin and campus on the weekend of August 19th, 2006.

Please follow the steps below to assure that your computer services are functional after the domain change is completed:

All desktop and laptop computers must be powered on prior to 8:00 a.m. on August 19, 2006. All computer services on campus will be unavailable for the entire weekend of August 19th, 2006.

On August 18,

Desktop Users: Please select the option to log off instead of shutting down your computer before you leave on August 18, 2006.

Laptop Users: Laptops and tablets must be connected to an active port through an Ethernet connection (blue cable) and plugged into the power outlet to prevent battery drain over the weekend. If you are a wireless laptop or tablet user, please contact the area closest to you to make arrangements to leave your computer over the weekend.  The areas and contacts are as follows:

If you can not leave your laptop over the weekend on the 18th, the following week we will set appointments for a desktop technician to configure your laptop to “talk” to the new domain.  Please contact theIf you need assistance please call 224-4357 or e-mail the service desk.

Please include:
- Your Name
- Username
- CNM Inventory number (if applicable)
- Phone Number and/or Alternate Number if you are having phone issues
- E-mail Address and/or Alternate e-mail address if you are having e-mail issues
- A detailed description of your problem.

It is essential that you save all your important documents to the “My Documents” folder prior to August 19th.  

While we do not anticipate any loss of data, you may experience difficulty accessing files that are stored locally on your computer until a technician can get to your desk side.  This may take a few days.

Monday, August 21, we will focus efforts to resolve any issues in the Student Services areas of all campuses first.  The Business Office and Faculty computers will be the next areas we will focus on to resolve any issues.
