How do I know when my computer purchase will arrive and be delivered to my department?
The Intake department receives a copy of any Purchase Orders that contain computers or related hardware. These Purchase Orders are logged into our database and each step of the Asset Inception process is monitored. So when it does arrive in the warehouse, Intake is expecting it and can process it as soon as possible. Once it does arrive in the warehouse, the Intake department needs to apply an asset tag, record the relevant information and coordinate delivery with the appropriate TSS who can prepare it for a specific department.
My department has submitted the Purchase Request. What is ITS doing with it?
ITS Administration gets the Purchase Request first. It is then logged in and forwarded to the Intake Department within ITS who can review it and verify the specifications will adhere to the current infrastructure. This means the hardware inside the computer is compatible with the network, the hardware meets the minimum specifications and will work for the entire replacement cycle if eligible. Also the ITS Intake Department can look over the request and contact the requesting department if there are perhaps better alternatives to the requested hardware or computer system that will fit the needs of the department.
Once this review is concluded, the Purchase Request is sent back to ITS Administration, logged back in and the ITS Director signs it. After that, it is on its way to the Purchasing department.
Our department needs a new computer. What kind of computer should we get?
ITS only has a couple strict guidelines for new computers. Quite simply this is to keep CNM's network state of the art. When ordering a new computer there are really many options a department can consider, and the ITS Intake Department is always happy to assist in this process and ensure each department can get exactly what it needs to remain efficient and effective in delivering the student oriented experience. Please contact the Intake Coordinator, Jon Kill at ext.4503, to discuss how ITS can help make the purchase as valuable as possible.
We hired a new employee and need a computer, does ITS have a temporary computer?
Currently, yes. ITS - Intake has implemented the Loan Process which allows ITS Intake to retain select computers destined for disposal, and temporarily redirect them to a department on a loan basis. Once the department obtains a new computer, the loaned computer will resume to disposal. Please select this link to request a Loaner System.
What is the replacement cycle and how long until these computers are replaced?
The Replacement Cycle is a way for CNM to keep up with the latest technology in desktop computers by removing the old and replacing with the new. This cycle is currently a 4 year cycle. So, say, all systems purchased in 2002 are being replaced with new computers. Please call the Intake Department for further details at ext. 3045.
I need documents for the IRC computers. Where is this?
These documents ITS created for departments to use is under the menu "Computer Information".
