CNM is committed to the principle that no student should be denied the opportunity for an education due solely to a lack of financial resources. Yet, CNM has a higher percentage of students with financial need than any other New Mexico college.
Although the college receives federal and state financial assistance, these funds do not meet the vast need that exists for New Mexico residents striving to improve their lives through higher education. CNM's students must balance the cost of an education with living necessities - shelter, food, and clothing. And, if a student has a family, the financial responsibilities are even greater.
One of the greatest gifts you can give is the gift of education. You can do this through establishing a scholarship or contributing to an existing scholarship fund. Your scholarship gift is tax-deductible.
| How to establish a CNM Scholarship |
An Endowed Scholarship
For a scholarship to have a lasting impact for CNM students, a permanent scholarship fund is established with a minimum amount of $2,000 to begin funding a $10,000 endowment. Once endowed, the principle produces permanent scholarship support on an annual basis. Earnings should accumulate for at least one year before awards are made. Donors have up to three years to reach minimum endowment level and work with the CNM Foundation to determine criteria and naming of the scholarship. In the past year, the Foundation’s endowed funds increased to $2.2 million.
Support an Existing Scholarship
In addition to establishing an endowed scholarship you may also contribute to one of the following scholarships that support student success. Donations of any amount may be contributed.
The Rust Opportunity Assistance Scholarship - Established by Jack and Donna Rust in 2005, this scholarship helps students meet unforeseen personal difficulties that impose financial problems such as helping to pay for childcare or a vehicle repair to prevent a student from dropping out. With this type of non-traditional scholarship assistance, our students are more likely to achieve their educational goals.
Support Dual Credit for Book Scholarships - CNM’s dual credit program provides an opportunity for high school students who attend a public high school to take college-level courses at CNM. The CNM Foundation supports high school students who wish to enroll in CNM’s dual credit program but can’t afford the textbooks necessary to be successful in their course.
The CNM Annual Fund - The CNM Annual Fund provides “dollars where needed most.” Whether through direct support of students, faculty development, or program support, these donations help the College meet its mission of promoting and providing higher education, skill development and workforce training for New Mexico.
Donations of any size may be contributed to funds still seeking full endowment.
Your gift to the CNM Foundation will support our work today and our mission in the years to come. We invite you to consider some of the following giving opportunities.
