Some Distance Learning courses require students to attend a face-to-face orientation. Distance Learning students must email their instructors as soon as possible after they officially register. If each student has not contacted the instructor by the end of the first day of class, he/she may be dropped from the class. A student with excessive absences, as a result of nonparticipation, may be dropped from a distance learning course. However, each student is ultimately responsible for formally dropping his/her classes by the published deadlines. A student should not assume he/she will be dropped automatically.A student who is dropped by an instructor for non-attendance is notified by mail. The instructor’s decision is final, but if the student disagrees with the action he or she must contact the instructor within two working days of receipt of the notification.
CNM’s Banner computer system provides instructors with the most up to date class list. (Instructions for accessing the Banner system are available from your instructional department.) Students who are not on this class list are not officially enrolled in the class and may not attend or participate in class activities and assignments. Absences do not relieve students of the responsibility for missed assignments and exams. Students must take the initiative in arranging with their instructors to make up missed work. Additional information about attendance is contained in individual course syllabi. (The CNM Catalog and the Schedule of Classes)
