You can create your Blackboard CE6 user name and password by clicking the "Create Account" button on the Blackboard site located at http://elearning.cnm.edu
You should never user personal information (such as student ID or social security numbers) on your username.
Make sure you select a password at least six (6) characters long. In the future, to receive your username and password via email, you will be required to answer a secret question on you new account application.

Accessing Course Materials
When you log into Blackboard CE6, the screen will look different from the My WebCT screen in WebCT 4.1. Therefore, you need to give yourself some time to explore your courses at the beginning of the term. You might also want to check out the tutorial videos located at the DL Tutorials Page
Navigating in Courses
Click on the item you want to open. Course tools such as Email, Discussion, Assignments, and Assessments (quizzes and tests) are on the course menu on the left side of the screen. You can access them from anywhere in the course by clicking on the them on the course menu.
Using the Email Tool
The email tool in Blackboard CE6 is separate from your CNM (Passport) email. It only sends email to your professor and other members of the class within Blackboard.
To Read a Mail Message
1. Click on Mail.
2. Click on Inbox.
3. Click on the message you want to read.
To Send a Mail Message
1. Click on Mail.
2. Click the Create Message button.
3. Click on the Browse for Recipients... button above the To box.
4. Select who you want to send the message to from the list.
5. Type a subject for your message.
6. Type your message.
7. Click the Send button at the bottom of the screen.
