About Us... Introducing Adult Basic Education

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program at CNM Community College offers instruction to adults who do not have a high school diploma, or its equivalent, and to adults who want to learn English as a Second Language. Our goal is to help students identify and achieve basic educational goals. To do that, we offer free non-credit classes in basic reading, math, writing, English as a second language and job/life skills. These classes help students prepare for higher education, job advancement and personal fulfillment.

The ABE program is a separate non-credit component of CNM. ABE students receive the same services as other CNM students (library access, for example) but do not follow the procedures outlined in the CNM Catalog for admission or registration and are not eligible for financial aid. The Adult Basic Education program is a part of the School of Adult & General Education (SAGE) at CNM Community College.
