If you have attended ABE classes at CNM within the last school year but are not currently enrolled in classes, you may need to complete a two-part registration process lasting approximately 2 hours. If your Placement scores are not current, follow all of the following steps. If your Placement scores are current, contact us at 224-4282 for registration dates and complete step II. You may call 224-4282 and ask if your scores are current but the actual scores will not be given over the phone.
1. Placement
Placement is available at Main Campus on a walk-in basis. For GED students the hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. and Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. For ESL students the hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. To schedule Placement at Montoya, South Valley, or West Side campuses you may call 224-4282 to request a placement which will be given in the weeks between terms.
CASAS, the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System, is designed to determine the appropriate classes for ESL Students to take in order to help you reach your goals and takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
The TABE, Test of Adult Basic Education is designed to determine appropriate classes for GED students and takes approximately 3 hours to complete.
2. Registration
Upon completion of the placement, you will be given the date Registration begins. The purpose of registration is to sign up for classes. When registration starts the registrar will review your scores with you and advise you as to the level of classes you may take. Registration will take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete.
