How do I pay for school?
Where do I get help filling out my financial aid form?
If I drop a class or received a no-credit in it, will I lose my financial aid?

Visit Financial Aid, first floor of Student Services, and ask your Financial Aid Advisor for answers.

English is my second language.  How can I find out about conversation groups and ESL classes? 

Go to KC-1 for information on classes or the Tutoring Lab in KC 6 to learn about conversation groups. 

Where do I go if personal problems are getting in the way of my school work?

See your Achievement Coaches in KC 16 or make an appointment with a clinical counselor in Special Services, 2nd floor of Student Services Building 

What is the difference between a certificate program and an Associate’s Degree?

A certificate program is usually one year long (full-time) and enables you to enter your field of employment.  An Associate's Degree is two years (full-time) and is a full college degree that is required for some career areas. The CNM catalogue explains the difference in full detail.

How can I get help with childcare? 

Call Carino Child Care Resource at the YWCA (254-9922).  They will tell you what licensed daycare providers are near your home.

 All students:  Tres Manos, 823 Buena Vista SE, 848-1310.  Childcare is available fall, spring and summer terms.  Usually a long waiting list, so plan ahead and apply early.

 GED & ESL students: Even Start programs at the Dolores Gonzales, Adobe Acres and Kit Carson schools.  For info, call 256-4259.

 South Valley Students: Youth Development Inc. (YDI) for fall and spring terms only.  Call 873-0905 for information.

What if I have a disability and need special help?

Talk to your Achievement Coach or visit Special Services, SSC 208, second floor of Student Services, to set up an intake appointment with a counselor.

How can I get help with homework?  With difficult subjects?

Visit the Tutoring Center for your courses.   

GED, ESL & Developmental Education students can find English and Reading assistance in the WRAC, KC 6 and Math tutors in KC 4.
