CNM's dual credit program provides an opportunity for high school students, who attend a public high school, to take college level courses taught by CNM faculty on one of CNM's campuses or other off-site locations. High school elective credit is earned simultaneously with college credit when each course is completed satisfactorily. Students receive 1 full high school elective credit for every 3 to 4 credit hour CNM course and 1/2 elective credit for every 1-2 credit hour course. Students can take up to 18 credits of college-level courses per term.
Advantages of the Program
- Community college classes are often smaller than those of four-year institutions, providing a personalized, quality educational experience.
- Dual credit students are often able to complete a college program of study more quickly and with less expense because they start college while in high school.
- Students enrolled in college courses through dual credit have their registration and tuition fees waived.*
*Note: You must qualify for New Mexico in-state tuition status. You will be responsible for any additional course fees and textbooks.
