Tuition, Fees and Discounts

Tuition is charged according to a student's residency status (see below) and the number and type of credit hours carried. Contact the Cashier's Office for all questions regarding tuition charges.

Residency Classification for Tuition Purposes

A student’s residency classification for tuition purposes is based on information provided at the time of admission or readmission. 

Effective Fall 2010 term, residency classifications are:
(1) NM resident(1) who lives in the CNM tax district, or
(2) NM resident who lives outside the CNM tax district, or
(3) Non-NM Resident.

See the current tuition table above for rates based on residency classification.  Your residency status for tuition purposes is posted in your myCNM account. 

(1)In general, to be a resident of New Mexico for tuition purposes, a financially independent person over 18 years of age must have resided in New Mexico for a period of 12 consecutive months immediately prior to the term, have declared in writing his/her intent to be a NM resident, and must have two overt acts to support the written declaration of intent (with no out-of-state overt acts ).  Click the Non-NM Resident link above for detailed information on residency.


Disbursement of Financial Aid Awards

The Cashier's office at the Main and Montoya campuses disburse checks for loans, grants, scholarships, and other financial aid awards each term.
