Center for Community Programs and Partnerships

The Center for Community Programs and Partnerships (C2P2) provides students with academic and non-academic support based programs designed to improve the student’s life and academic coursework while enrolled at Central New Mexico Community College. The staff is dedicated to providing students with a safe and exciting learning environment. Center for Community Programs and Partnerships students can build upon their interpersonal skills and leadership development while completing their academic coursework. There are numerous experiential or hands-on opportunities for students including: 

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to be actively involved in these programs and within their communities. These programs and services are designed so that all students who wish to compliment their academic coursework with student life development can do so successfully.

Mission, Vision and Goal

The Center for Community Programs and Partnerships is dedicated to serving the needs of the CNM and Albuquerque communities. The purpose of the center is to provide experiential learning opportunities for students and faculty in all instructional divisions. The center has created hundreds of partnerships with local businesses and non-profit organizations to insure unique and innovating learning sites for students and faculty.

Because of our dedication, our pride and performance, the Center for Community Programs and Partnerships has been honored with:

  • American Association of Community Colleges’ Service Learning Mentee/Mentor grants
  • National Bellwether Award from the New Futures Assembly for Best Instructional Program among community colleges
  • Learn and Serve Grants by the Corporation for National and Community Service
  • National Award for Community Collaboration and National Award for Service Learning and Civic Engagement presented by the Community College National Center for Community Engagement
  • Recognized by National Campus Compact as one of 13 engaged community college campuses for civic engagement
  • Life Sustaining Member Award and the 2005 Hero Award for Outstanding Collegiate Blood Drive from United Blood Services
  • In September 2006 the Corporation for National and Community Service honored Dr. Rudy M. Garcia, Dean of Students, with the National Spirit of Service Award in recognition of service and contributions to our community.
  • In May 2007 Sharon Gordon, Director of the Center for Community Programs and Partnerships was a recipient of the 2007 Governor’s Award for Outstanding New Mexico Women.

The Service Learning Program is a proud recipient of a Corporation for National and Community Service Grant. The program is also the 1999 National Bellwether award winner and the 2004 Community College National Center for Community Engagement Service Learning and Civic Engagement award winner.
