State Student Incentive Grant (SSIG)

  • This grant is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. Students with the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC) are automatically considered for the grant.
  • Eligibility requirements include:

-An EFC between 0 and 3,000
-Must not have earned a bachelor’s degree
-Must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours and above)
-Must be enrolled in eligible courses in an eligible program of study
-Must be a resident of New Mexico

  • Awards are based on the availability of funds and prorated based on a student's enrollment.
  • The maximum award is $1,000 per year and is generally awarded in Fall and Spring terms.
  • Due to limited funds, it is important to apply early to be considered for these funds. Not everyone who qualifies for an SSIG might get one.

College Affordability Grant (CAG)

  • The College Affordability Grant is awarded to non-traditional New Mexico residents who are not eligible for other education state grant assistance.
  • Due to limited funds, it is important to apply early to be considered for these funds. Not everyone who qualifies for a CAG might get one.

State Day Care Grant

  • Eligible State Day Care Grant recipients must

-Be New Mexico residents
-Enroll at least half time (6 credit hours or more)
-Have day care expenses.

  • Due to limited funds, it is important to apply early to be considered for these funds. Not everyone who qualifies for a State Day Care Grant might get one.
