When is the Fall Graduation Ceremony? 
A: Saturday, May 3, 2014

Q: Where will the Fall Graduation Ceremony take place? 
A: Tingley Coliseum, Expo New Mexico

Q: What time does the Graduation Ceremony start? 
A: Promptly starting at 12:00 p.m. Please inform your family and guests to arrive early to ensure they find parking and get to see the start of your graduation ceremony.

Q: What time do the Graduates need to be at the Creative Arts Building? 
A: Graduates need to report to the Creative Arts Center at 10:00 a.m. to be signed in and to begin the Graduate procession line up.

Q: What time do my family and guests need to arrive? 
A: Your family and guests should arrive prior to the start of the actual ceremony to get a seat.

Q: Does my family/friends need tickets to attend the ceremony? 
A: No, tickets are not needed and all are welcome!

A: Why does my family need to arrive so early?
Q: It is highly recommended since parking may be very busy and to ensure that they obtain a good seat to see your graduation ceremony from the very beginning.

Q: How many people can I bring? 
A: As many as you want. Tingley is a large venue and there is not a limit on how many guests can be invited.

Q: If I graduated (received my degree/certificate) after the Summer semester, can I participate (walk) in the CNM Graduation Ceremony?
A: Yes, all Summer graduates are invited to walk in the Fall Graduation Ceremony. You will be emailed the Graduation Participation email by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013. This email will be sent to the graduate's cnm.edu email address. If you haven’t received this email, please contact Brandon Seber at mailto:bseber@cnm.edu?subject=Graduation for more information.

Q: Do I need to buy a Cap & Gown? 
A: Yes, all students wishing to participate (walk) in the CNM Graduation Ceremony must have a BLUE cap and gown.

Q: Where do I get my Cap & Gown? 
A: You need to come first to one of the following Student Activities Office locations to obtain a yellow parking permit before going to the CNM Bookstore:

  • Main Campus Student Activities Office, room SSC-111~ Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Montoya Campus ID Office, TW Building, room TW-207 ~ Wednesday, Thursday 1st & 3rd Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (closed 12:00pm-1:00pm)
  • Westside Campus ID Office, WS II, room 104 ~  Monday, Tuesday 2nd & 4th Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (closed 12:00pm-1:00pm)

Once the yellow parking permit is obtained you may visit one of these CNM Bookstore locations to obtain your actual BLUE cap and gown:

  • Main Campus Bookstore ~ Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
    ~ Friday 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
  • Montoya Campus Bookstore ~ Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
    ~ Friday 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
  • Westside Campus Bookstore ~ Monday through Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm< br /> ~ Friday CLOSED

Q: How much is the Cap & Gown? 
A: $39.59

Q: Can I use my friend's Cap & Gown from last term?
A: Sure! As long as the gown is the correct color BLUE, you are more than welcome to use someone’s cap and gown from a previous CNM Graduation Ceremony.

Q: What side does my tassel go on prior to the Graduation Ceremony? 
A: Your tassel should be placed on the right side of your cap prior to the actual ceremony. Towards the end of the ceremony, the CNM President will confer you as a graduate and will ask you to place your tassel on the left side of your cap.

Q: When will I receive my CNM Diploma/Certificate? 
A: Your degree/certificate would be available to be picked up in person, from Main Campus, 2-6 weeks after the semester has ended as long as you are in good academic standing and have passed all of your courses. Enrollment Services will email you, using the CNM email address, when they are available.

Q: How am I able to participate in the graduation ceremony when my classes are still in session? 
A: Your actual degree/certificate is not processed until all grades have been posted. The actual degree/certificate would be available to be picked up in person, from Main Campus, 2-6 weeks after the semester has ended as long as you are in good academic standing and have passed all of your courses. Enrollment Services will e-mail you, using the CNM e-mail address, when they are available to be picked up.

Q: What are announcements? 
A: The Student Activities Office sells graduation announcements, which can be used to invite your family and friends. Guests do not need them to get into the ceremony venue. The announcements are sold in quantities of 10 and are $5.00 per pack.

Q: Do I have to participate in the Graduation Ceremony to receive my diploma/certificate? 
A: No, you will still receive your degree/certificate 2-6 weeks after the term has ended as long as you are in good academic standing and have passed all of your courses, providing that you submitted your graduation application. Please keep in mind that your actual degree/certificate will need to be picked in person, from Main Campus. Enrollment Services will e-mail you, using the CNM e-mail address, directly when they are available to be picked up.

Q: How do I participate in the Graduation Ceremony?
A:
Below, please find the steps to get you started:

  1. To review CNM’s general graduation requirements, log on to myCNM, and click on the “Students” tab at the top of the page.
  2. In the Graduation and Change/Update Your Major channel on the right of the page, click on “Your Guide to Graduation” to access the latest information on the graduation application process.
  3. To apply to graduate online, click the link for the Online Certificate and Degree Evaluation, located below the Graduation Guide link.
  4. Once you complete the evaluation, you will be allowed to continue to the online graduation application.
    a. If you are eligible, you will receive an e-mail from Enrollment Services within a week of submitting the Graduation Application.
  5. An e-mail will be sent to your myCNM e-mail account from the Student Activities Coordinator with directions on how to sign up (register to walk) for your Graduation Ceremony.
  6. Follow the directions for the on-line registration form and you will be ready to celebrate your academic achievements with your loved ones.

Q: How do I participate in the Graduation Ceremony?
A: Once your graduation application has been submitted, an email will be sent to the graduate's cnm.edu email account. Please click the link within the email to sign up (register to walk) for your graduation ceremony by submitting the Graduation Ceremony Participation Form by 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2013Please note that this process will take place every Monday ending on Monday, March 31, 2014. If you submit your graduation application on a Tuesday or any other day of the week or over the weekend, the participation e-mail will be sent to you on the following Monday.

Q: Do I need to attend the full length of the Graduation Ceremony? 
A: Yes, out of respect for your fellow graduates, it is highly recommended that you make proper arrangements to ensure that you can attend the full length of the graduation ceremony. If you are unable to attend the full length of the graduation ceremony, please contact the Student Activities Office to make arrangements to attend the following graduation ceremony. Graduation ceremonies are held every Fall and Spring semester.

Q: Do I have to have my photo taken during the actual ceremony? 
A: It is not possible for the photographer to not take your photo during the actual ceremony. However, if you wish not to have your photo taken, please contact the Student Activities Office to make proper arrangements.

Q: Where do I park? 
A: All graduates enter Tingley Coliseum through Gate 8 near the intersection at Louisiana and Lomas.

Q: Where do my family/friends park? 
A: All family/friends enter Tingley Coliseum through Gate 8 near the intersection at Louisiana and Lomas. A fee of $5.00 will be charged for ALL non CNM Graduates.

Q: Is there handicap parking? 
A: Yes - the Tingley Coliseum parking attendants will direct you to the appropriate parking area.

Q: Is parking free for the graduate?
A: Yes, parking will be free only for the CNM Graduate by using the yellow parking permit that is available at one (1) of the following Student Activities Office locations:

Q: Is myCNM email account the only form of communication to receive information on the graduation ceremony once I am approved to participate?
A: Yes, the myCNM (email/web) account is the college’s online communication system. Students should check their email account daily for messages regarding the graduation ceremony once they are cleared to participate in the ceremony. 
Q: How close will I be sitting to other graduates?
A: Due to State Fire Marshal code, the chairs will be zipped tied for your safety and these chairs will be very close to your fellow graduates during the ceremony.
Q: How long will I be standing during the Graduation Reception prior to the actual ceremony? 
A: Please ensure that you wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing from one (1) to two (2) hours prior to the actual Graduation Ceremony.
