Petition Information
PETITION IN SUMMER for Veterinary Technology Program
A new group (cohort) of Veterinary Technology students begin the first term coursework each fall. Selection is based on the date of declaration of VT as a major and number of arts & sciences courses completed with a grade of C or better. Each student must provide proof of the Basic Math Test Score of 85 percent or higher and a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The petitioning process is subject to change. Students should plan to attend an information session to remain current. Information sessions covering the petitioning process, program requirements and career opportunities are scheduled regularly. Dates and times for Program Information Sessions can be obtained by visiting the website or by calling the HWPS Administrative offices at (505) 224-4111.
PETITION PACKET: accepted between May 1st and June 30th for the upcoming Fall term.
You gather the following documentation which creates your petition packet.
- Documentation from registration, or "my CNM", indicating the date of declaring Veterinary Technology as your major.
- Documentation of 85% or better on the Basic Math Test within 12 months prior to petitioning.
- CNM transcript: and/or a copy of all transcripts received by CNM from other post-secondary school from which you transferred course credit, and the accompanying CNM Equivalency Transfer sheet.
- Documentation (above transcripts) indicating a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Documentation (above transcripts) of the required courses completed with a grade of C or better:
English 1101 or 1102, Psychology 1105, Math 1210 or higher, Biology 1410/1492, and Chemistry 1410/1492 - or courses/numbers as indicated in the current CNM catalog. - Documentation of currently enrolled courses for the Summer (copy of your course schedule).
- List any specific Veterinary Technology courses you may have completed.
Submit the required documentation to the Health, Wellness, and Public Safety Administrative Offices, CNM Main Campus, Jeanette Stromberg building, third floor, Room JS310 between May 1st and June 30th.
You may NOT register for any CNM Veterinary Technology courses until you have been selected through the petition process.
