Hardware and Software
Most typical wireless network devices (laptops, tablets, smart phones, etc.) from reputable manufacturers will be able to work with CNM’s wireless network. Standard wireless protocols are supported for all CNM SSIDs. These include IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n and the newest 802.11ac protocol. Please, be advised that not all manufacturers implement these standards in precisely the same way.
The ITS Service desk is skilled at supporting the equipment that is purchased by CNM for CNM use. If you are having trouble with connecting your personal device to the CNM wireless network, please feel free to contact the ITS Service Desk (224-4357), but they may have to ask you to contact the manufacturer of your device.
As a student, staff or faculty member, you receive a CNM computer account. This account is required to access CNM's wireless network. It is also the account you will use to log on to the computers in the lab or in your office. Using your username and password allows you to access your network storage space.
Your username is the first part of your CNM email address. Example: username@CNM.edu.
To activate your account go to:(Note: do not include the usual www.)
Follow the “click here” link if you do not know your username. Fill in the information requested – your 9-digit employee/student ID number and your birthdate in the boxes as indicated. Then enter the text you see in the “Captcha” image in the box provided. If you have trouble seeing the image, there is an audio version that can be played. Click the “submit” button in the lower right to get your username.
Please, keep in mind that it may take a day for your account to be created, if you have just enrolled or been hired at CNM.
If you have problems with your user account, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 224-4357 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
