STAFF BIO - Daniel Garcia

Daniel Garcia, Administrative/Technical Assistant, joined Job Connection Center (JCC) in March 2008. He wasn’t a newcomer to CNM, however. Daniel had already worked for CNM in the Human Resources Department for three and a half years. The desire to work closely with students prompted him to seek employment within the Student Services Division. Combined with extensive customer service experience, his versatile knowledge base—from human resources through the administrative processes of CNM—makes him a valuable member of the JCC team.

Daniel earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UNM in May 2003, with a major in sociology and a minor in business administration.Yet, like many of CNM’s students, he completed some prerequisite coursework at this institution (then TVI). Part of the reason Daniel enjoys working with students stems from his personal experience.

“I struggled with a lack of motivation,” Daniel explains. “I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. After completing an interest inventory at UNM’S Career Advisement Center, I found more of a direction.”  Daniel relates well to those who grapple with the choice of a career path.

“To me, work must have some kind of reward beyond the money,” he continues. “I like to feel like I'm making some sort of difference to people.” His calm, quiet demeanor makes it easy for students to talk to him and seek his insight. 

In his free time, Daniel enjoys working out and spending time with his wife. Their favorite activities involve lying in the sun on warm, sandy beaches, and they hope to revisit the site of their honeymoon, Riviera Maya, near Cancun, in the future.

 But meanwhile, Daniel can be found in JCC. Whether helping students in the lab, providing technical support for staff members, or performing administrative tasks, Daniel fulfills his personal goal of helping people and truly making a difference to others every single day.
