| Teresa Valverde, Job Connection Center’s Data Analyst, embraces Eleanor Roosevelt’s statement, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Teresa has guided students and watched them achieve their dreams for the past 16 years—ten in Career Services at UNM’s Valencia Campus, and six at CNM’s Job Connection Center. Earlier in her career, Teresa provided extensive customer service in the fields of International Banking, Investment Banking and Computer Information Systems. During her years in the academic environment, Teresa has assisted students and graduates with job searches, employability skills, résumé writing, and interviewing techniques. Her current position involves collecting graduate statistical data and event planning. Like a sleuth on assignment, Teresa locates CNM graduates each semester and conducts job placement surveys. “I am so fortunate to have the best job on campus,” says Teresa. “I get to hear first-hand about the successes of CNM graduates.” |
The statistics Teresa compiles provide valuable information through a variety of sources. For example, they are published annually in the CNM Catalog and in the Student Handbook, and they are distributed liberally through JCC and other Departments within CNM. CNM recruiters also use these graduate statistics to assist high school students who are considering academic and career choices.
Teresa represents JCC beyond the Department’s door. For several years she has been a member of CNM’s Institutional Analysis Team, making recommendations based on current trends in the job market. She also serves on the Student Services Communication Team, gathering and sharing information among all the Departments of Student Services Divisions from each of CNM campuses. And this past year Teresa has represented Student Services for the United Way campaign, offering one more avenue through which people can achieve their dreams.
