![]() | Michelle Marquez joined Job Connection Center as the Receptionist in June 2008 and felt at home immediately—both behind the front desk and in the lab, assisting CNM students and graduates. |
“I love working with people,” she explains. “I had worked in an educational environment before at NAU, and I really enjoyed the students, staff, and faculty.” Michelle thrives in her multi-faceted role because she likes to help people, and she learns something new every day. She is intrigued and impressed by how individuals take on the responsibilities of school, work, and family commitments.
“My number-one goal in this position is to be pleasant and understanding in every situation,” Michelle says. “I know that searching for a job can be a difficult process because I’ve been through it myself. I get a great feeling when students leave with confidence. It feels good to be part of the solution.”
In her free time, Michelle treasures the time she spends with her family and her dogs. She enjoys creative activities and has a life-long passion for all kinds of office supplies and art supplies. However, she has also been known to pick up leaves, rocks, and sticks while she’s outdoors for future use in various projects. Her interests range from fashion and shopping to learning new skills and creative thinking.
“I’ve learned to take life as it comes and learn from every experience,” Michelle explains. “Some things are blessings in disguise. I think the world works in mysterious ways, and I enjoy finding out what’s the next thing to pop up.”
Michelle believes that fate brought her to CNM because she had been thinking about going back to school. Now as a CNM employee, she looks forward to becoming acquainted with the academic possibilities and choosing a course that will enhance her own gifts and talents.
