Rhonda Ross is a non-traditional CNM student in every sense of the word. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in business management from Tarkio College in Missouri and is certified as a professional in human resources. She has lived in a dozen states and worked at four different colleges.
Enticed by CNM’s quality education, lower tuition, and student-centered staff, Rhonda is taking classes to strengthen her knowledge base in math and science as she prepares for graduate school at UNM. “College is harder now that the printing press has been invented,” she says with a laugh.
When seeking student employment, Rhonda found Job Connection Center to be a custom fit. “I’ve spent many years helping people find jobs,” she explains. This includes helping students find employment at Laramie County Community College; interviewing and coaching applicants for a staffing company, and serving as the Human Resources Director for Dial Oil Company in Farmington, NM.
She has also worked as a director of a non-profit agency, a tour guide, a volunteer coordinator for a hospice, and even played the part of a saloon girl in a western filmed here in New Mexico. Her diverse background and experiences make her a real asset to CNM students and graduates who seek assistance from Job Connection Center.
“I am delighted to have a position that allows me to enjoy the excitement of people achieving their goals,” she says. Rhonda understands the hard work, sacrifice, and planning required to complete a degree.
“I enjoy the challenge and diversity of individuals in the academic climate,” she adds. “I have never worked anywhere that was as positive and student-oriented as CNM.”
