The primary purpose of a résumé is to obtain an interview for a job. Hiring officials have limited time for reviewing résumés, so your résumé must generate maximum impact. A résumé critique will help ensure the effectiveness of your document.
To be eligible for a résumé critique by a Job Connection staff member, you must first upload a draft of your résumé into your eRecruiting account. Please do not use a template. Open a new MS Word document, and type your résumé information.
The following steps can help you prepare your draft:
- Use the Résumé Building Worksheet (130 kb)
to help you gather ideas and collect your employment and educational background information. - For layout assistance, follow one of the samples. Sample 1 (103 kb)
displays standard layout, and Sample 2 (72 kb)
demonstrates the format for a scannable résumé.
After completing your draft, upload it into your JCC account. Then call (505) 224-3060 to schedule a one-on-one résumé critique appointment.
