Participating in training and professional development increases knowledge skills and abilities required to progress personally and professionally. To view a description, click on your choice from the list of titles.

 


 

New Employee Orientation, Phase III

Scheduled at Main Campus in Smith Brasher 132 from 8:30am-Noon on the dates listed below.

  • September 19 and 26
  • October 17 and 24
  • November 21 and December 5

This orientation is required for all full-time faculty and staff within thirty days of hire to help new employees learn about CNM resources, culture, and community. Participants learn about the college's vision of "Changing Lives and Building Community" and have the opportunity to listen to CNM's senior leadership about the functions of various offices and departments.

Participants will hear from President Winograd and the Vice Presidents on the third Friday of each month. On the fourth Friday of the month, participants will hear from other office and department leaders at the college. Participation during both Fridays of the month is required. Educated Investor: Financial Fitness Challenge

If you’re like most people, it can sometimes be hard to make sense of your personal finances, investments or retirement plan. To help, we are excited to offer you the Financial Fitness Challenge, available at no cost to the first 250 employees who enroll in the program.

The program begins September 15 and runs through November 21st. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is accessible online using any device.

BEFORE 9/15 go to www.FFCProgram.com and complete the form at the bottom of the page indicating your interest in the program.

STARTING 9/15 go to www.FFCProgram.com to start the challenge by completing the 10 minute Checkup. You will then receive a summary of your assessment with a recommended learning plan.

  • All personally identifiable information provided is kept strictly confidential. Neither CNM nor Educated Investor has access to it and no one but you has access to your course quiz scores.
  • The program includes a Financial Fitness Checkup with learning plan selection, five courses and a final Checkup. Completing all parts is required to graduate.
  • The first Checkup takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes. On average, courses take approximately one hour and the final Checkup takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
  • Course due dates are recommendations only. Courses can be completed at your own pace, as long as all courses are completed by program end date, November 21st.
  • You will receive a certificate of completion for each course passed and a final certificate of program completion if you submit the Financial Fitness Checkup, pass all five courses and submit the final check-up.
  • The passing grade for each course is 75% and exams can be re-taken as many times as needed.

HR Employee Training is offering Developing a Plan for Wellness

  • Tuesdays at Main Campus in SRC 204 from 12 - 12:45pm, Sept. 23 - Nov. 25
  • Thursdays at Montoya Campus in J 116 from 5:15 - 6pm, Sept. 11 - Nov. 13

By learning how to integrate wellness in our lives we can enjoy improved health, morale and workplace productivity. Sign up today to learn more about health, fitness and stress management. Participants will also learn how to make homeopathic products and practice fitness routines including Tai Chi, Pilates, Chair Yoga, Zumba and more!

Strengths Quest and Goal Setting Training

  • New Dates will be posted soon.

Student Services employees are invited to participate in this training intended to improve goal setting during our annual performance evaluations.

Both the Strengths Quest (Level 1) and Goal Setting (Level 2) trainings are required. Over 20 sessions of each training will be offered during January and February. Go to the Employee Training registration portal, login, select Courses, CNM Employees, and Job Enrichment to register for the sessions that work best with your schedule. If you are not a Student Services employee, please email EmployeeTraining@cnm.edu if you're interested in this training opportunity. See course descriptions below.

Strengths Quest is used by more than 600 universities in North America. More than one million people have used Strengths Quest to gain insights into how to use their talents to achieve academic, career, and leadership development. Participants will learn about their specific strengths, how to interpret them, and how to apply them for career success. Learn how to identify and build on your talents to further your career and personal success!

Goal setting is a powerful process. Effective goal setting allows you to impact your career and provides a tool to motivate yourself, turning your vision into reality. By knowing precisely what you want to achieve professionally, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. This training builds on employee's Strengths and aligns goal setting with personal talents. There is a great deal of difference between the most successful 5 percent of the population and the rest of the nation. The top 5 percent establishes clear, positive, and effective goals for themselves. Learn how to develop effective, specific, and measurable goals that will be included in your annual performance evaluations.

Web Writing Workshop

  • Friday, Sept. 12th from 12:30 - 4:30 pm in SRC-124

Learn how to create engaging, high-quality web content in this hands-on workshop with CNM's web team. Avoid common problems and reach your audience with new found clarity. This class, required to contribute to cnm.edu, is facilitated by Elliot Konetzni, associate director of Web Strategy at CNM. Elliot has broad experience in technical and design fields and is passionate about creating accessible, quality web sites. Go to our Employee Training registration portal to register.

Self-Service Advisor Tab, CAPP, & TES Training

All sessions are held in the Enrollment Services conference room, 1st floor, Student Services Building, Room 103, Main Campus.

  • 9:00 - 10:00am Tuesday, September 16
  • 2:00 - 3:00pm Friday, October 17
  • 9:00 - 10:00am Wednesday, November 19

Enrollment Services is officially rolling out TES (Transfer Evaluation System). Many of the New Mexico institutions are now available so you can help students determine how CNM courses will transfer to other institutions. Other topics will include how to run CAPP (Curriculum, Advisement, and Program Planning) reports, look up test scores, view student registration and transcripts. Audience is for new or current advisors, achievement coaches, faculty chairs, and program chairs.
