The new Faculty and Staff Newsroom has taken the place of the monthly Express newsletter, which had been hosted external to cnm.edu. And rather than once-a-month delivery of employee-related news stories, the new environment will be updated regularly. Employees are encouraged to submit faculty and staff news ideas for inclusion on the site through a “Submit News” link. Go to www.cnm.edu/facultystaffnews to check it out.

Students Build Pre-Fabricated Cottage That’s Now Up for Bid
Students in the Applied Technologies Manufactured Housing Program have put their skills to work by building a 2-bedroom cottage with an emphasis on green construction. The cottage is move-in ready with energy efficient appliances, carpet in the living room and bedrooms, ceramic tile in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry rooms, and all rough-in inspections have been completed. Each year, these student-built cottages go on sale through a bidding process with all proceeds going to pay for construction materials. Construction materials for the cottages run about $30,000 without labor costs. Bidding for the homes begins at $20,000. Bidding is open to anyone and more information can be obtained at cnm.edu/purchasing under the request for bids section, bid number T-2824.

Changes Coming for CNM Printing Services, Starting Monday
Beginning Monday, Jan 28, printing services at Main Campus will be moving to a new print server. This migration should have no adverse effect on how or where users currently print, and it will not affect Banner printers. The migration to the new print server is expected to take approximately two months. ITS will begin a methodical migration - building by building - until all Main Campus computer printing has been rerouted. See the ‘Main Campus Printer Migration to Print02 Schedule’ under the ITS\Desktop Support public folder in Outlook for the tentative schedule. See the image below. After your area has been switched to the new print server, you will need to select your default printer one time.  Follow these steps to do so:

caption:

  • select ‘Devices and Printers’ from the Start Menu
  • right-click the printer you wish to set as your default printer
  • select ‘Set as Default Printer’ from the drop-down menu

Please do not do this before your area has been moved to the new printer server as your default printer may not remain set that way the next time you login.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please contact the ITS Service Desk at itsservicedesk@cnm.edu, or call 224-HELP (4357).
