CHSS Hosts Dual Credit Event for Local High School

Job Connection Services Ramps Up Student Access to Jobs Database

Job Connection Services has dramatically increased the number of students served through Symplicity, the primary job search database that helps students launch their careers. Over the last 18 months, there have been multiple efforts to build the database's resources to assist with all aspects of the job search from reviewing job postings, applying for positions, résumé building, interview skills, networking and beyond. All areas have experienced increased usage and many pages have become very popular sites for students, graduates and faculty. In January 2012 Symplicity experienced 855 job search visits by unique students. Eighteen months later (June 2013), the total unique student visits through Symplicity soared to 3,207.

Phone System Password Reset Delayed to Aug. 7

The phone system password reset date has been moved from July 31 to Aug. 7. Due to necessary upgrades to CNM's Avaya phone system, all faculty and staff voicemail passwords will be reset to the default on Aug. 7. Also, default voicemail greetings will automatically go into effect until you reset your password and record a new greeting. Employees will not be able to access voicemails or change greetings by phone without resetting your password as of Aug. 7. However, voicemails will continue to be forwarded to your email account and can be played through Outlook. Please wait to reset your password until Aug. 7 or thereafter, when the technical upgrades will be complete. To reset your password, follow the instructions below.

Setting your Avaya Mailbox Password
Please be sure to follow the voice prompts carefully to complete the Avaya mailbox initialization process.

    1. Call the system access number. The system access number is 44801 (on campus) or 224-4801 (off campus). If calling the off campus number, press [#] to interrupt the greeting and enter your 5-Digit extension when prompted.

      a. Enter your temporary password, which will be the last eight digits of your Employee ID number, excluding the 0 at the beginning, and press [#]. Continue to step 2
      b. If you hear a spoken name and it is notyour name, Press [*] [#]. Enter your 5 digit extension then enter your temporary password (Employee ID number) followed by [#]. Proceed to step 2.
      c. After completing step 1-b if the system didn't identify your name correctly, please contact the ITS Service Desk at Ext. 44357 and enter a service desk ticket so that ITS can correct the issue. The info that you will need to provide ITS is the following:

        i. What name or message did you hear when you dialed the access number?
        ii. Your 5-Digit extension and your name.
        iii. Your physical location (cubical or office #)

    2. After completing step 1-a or 1-b, the system will prompt you to enter a new password followed by [#]. You will be asked to verify the password, reenter the same password followed by [#].

    Your Avaya mailbox password change is now complete. If you need assistance, contact the ITS Service Desk at 224-4357 or email itsservicedesk@cnm.edu.

    SharePoint 2010 Coming Aug. 19
    A new version of SharePoint – SharePoint 2010 – will be launched at CNM on Aug. 19. There will be a new look and feel to SharePoint 2010, but content currently in the SharePoint system will not be affected by the upgrade. Many users have already been trained, and there will also be a video training made available soon. If you have questions, contact the ITS Service Desk at 224-4357 or itsservicedesk@cnm.edu.

    CNM's Making Money Work Class Starts Sept. 16
    CNM's Making Money Work course -- an online dual credit financial literacy class – starts Sept. 16. The course, offered with no cost, counts for both high school and college credit. Read more at www.cnm.edu/facultystaffnews.

    Remember to Book Work Travel Plans Early to Get Best Deals
    Employees are reminded to book travel plans for CNM purposes, such as conferences, as far in advance as possible in order to save as much money as possible.

    CNM's I-BEST Programs Help Students Finish Trade Courses Faster
    CNM's Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training programs (I-BEST) are for students like Abraham Salazar and Everett Baxter, both studying electrical trades at CNM but who also need some basic education. Read more.

    Records & Property Controls Relocating
    Records & Property Control is relocating to its new location, the Main Campus Physical Plant Building, on Sept. 6. The move will take approximately three weeks. During the move, records may be checked out only on an emergency basis. Records & Property Control will notify departments when boxes can be accepted for storage or destruction. If you have any questions regarding the move, please contact Records & Property Control Staff at Extensions: 4-4630, 4-4617 or 4-4614.
