Health Care Premium Increases Take Effect in September
Insurance coverage premiums through the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority will be increased 6.13 percent for medical health care. For the high option family coverage, Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage will rise about $9.50 per pay period and Presbyterian will rise about $8.50 per pay period for CNM employees. The low option family coverage for BCBS will rise about $8 per pay period and Presbyterian will rise about $7 per pay period. The increase in single coverage for either of the two plans will be slightly less. CNM pays 75 percent of health premiums for full-time employees making $25,000 or more per year and 80 percent for full-time employees making $24,999 or less. Save the Date for Convocation
Mark your calendars! Convocation will be held Friday, Sept. 14, at 8 a.m. in the Central Lot, located on the northwest corner of Coal Ave. and Buena Vista Dr. on Main Campus. CNM faculty and staff will join together in the morning to hear from President Winograd. Then, based on past attendee feedback, the second portion of Convocation will be breakout sessions by division. Convocation will conclude with employees joining together again for lunch on the Student Resource Center lawn while enjoying a health and wellness fair. All campuses and departments will be open for business at 1 p.m. The Central Lot will be closed Sept. 12-14 for Convocation preparations. All Central Lot permit holders will be emailed instructions on where to park on those days.

Be a Superhero for Students – Volunteer for Suncat Days
All CNM employees are encouraged to volunteer for this year’s Suncat Days campaign, when employees will be stationed across all campuses to help students navigate the first week of the fall term. Two-hour volunteer shifts are available Aug. 27-30. Check your calendars to see when you can volunteer during the first week of the fall term. You can sign up for shifts by clicking here.
Temporary Closures Upcoming at Montoya Campus
The Montoya Campus will be temporarily closed while a power outage takes place from 4 p.m. on Aug. 16 until 8 a.m. on Aug. 18. All offices at Montoya Campus will reopen on Monday, Aug. 20. From Aug. 13-17, the H Building at Montoya Campus will be closed while remodels are made to its food court and kitchen.
ITS to Begin Sending Email Notices for Password Expiration Dates
ITS will begin sending e-mail notices to all CNM students and employees when passwords for CNM’s technology services are about to expire. The email notices will be sent to users once a week, beginning 30 days prior to their password expiration date. Users can change their passwords by logging into myCNM. On the myCNM Welcome page in the top left-hand corner, click on “My Account” to change your password. These e-mail notices will not ask users to send any sensitive information via email. The email notices will go into effect in approximately two weeks. Benefits Enrollment Expanded for Children Up to Age 26
In addition to medical benefits, eligibility for dental, vision, and life benefits has now been expanded for children of employees up to age 26, married or single. If you would like to re-enroll your child who was cancelled from these benefits on their 25th birthday, if they have not yet turned 26, please contact Human Resources at 224-4600 to complete the required paperwork. The deadline is September 21, 2012. The effective date will be October 1, 2012.
Blackboard Learn Unavailable Aug. 15-18
In order to upgrade to the latest service pack — SP8 — Blackboard Learn will be unavailable Aug. 15-18. Once the update is complete, SP8 will offer a number of new features, including interface changes, backgrounds and themes, task-based navigation, an automatic re-grading option, negative marking for assessments, and improved activity reports. Distance Learning is offering several trainings to help Distance Learning faculty transition to the new service pack. For faculty already familiar with Blackboard Learn, Distance Learning will offer a “What’s New in SP8” training on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 9 a.m. in SRC 103 at Main Campus. It will also be offered as a webinar on Aug. 24 at 9 a.m. Distance Learning has scheduled several training sessions that are available for registration by clicking here. Payroll Calendar Available
If you would like a copy of the 2012-13 Payroll Calendar, the Payroll Office has made it available by clicking here. The Payroll Calendar is color-coded to easily identify college holidays, payroll deadlines and paydays. There is information on the bottom of the Payroll Calendar indicating the number of days employees are paid, whether for the fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) or the academic year (September – August). Both full-time and part-time faculty can note the Academic Year 2012-13 pay dates.
Website Redesign Team Reviewing Content of Top 100 Pages
CNM’s Website Redesign Team is reviewing the content of the 100 pages most visited on cnm.edu in preparation for launching a redesigned cnm.edu in late October or early November. For those who have contributed content to cnm.edu, you may be contacted in the coming weeks to help the Redesign Team ensure the accuracy of redesigned content.
