Discuss Academic Calendar Proposal Pros and Cons on Blog

A new blog has been created to provide the CNM community with an open online forum to discuss the pros and cons related to the Academic Calendar Committee’s proposal to move the college from the current three-term schedule to a semester-based schedule. The blog, launched last week, now has a discussion board feature, which currently includes a tutor’s perspective on a proposed 8-week summer term. After logging on to the blog, look for the “Discussion Board” link in the upper left column. The blog is hosted in Blackboard Learn. Attached to this e-mail is a set of instructions to enroll for the blog. Even if you’re currently a Blackboard user, you will need to “self-enroll” to access the blog. Use your regular CNM username and password to log in and follow the attached directions. Go to http://learn.cnm.edu/ to join in the discussion. If you have questions about how to access the blog or discussion board, call 224-4669.

Faculty Encouraged to Submit Presentation Proposals for Faculty Brown Bag Series Set for April

Planning is under way for the continuation of the Faculty Professional Brown Bag series that began in fall 2011. Two spring 2012 events will occur on yet to be determined dates in April at the Montoya and Westside campuses. The Faculty Professional Brown Bag series provides faculty members with opportunities to share current research efforts or teaching interests with other faculty members, and it provides a great opportunity to meet and network with faculty members from other parts of the college

Organizers are seeking proposals from those interested in being part of a faculty panel. Panel members will be allotted 10 to 15 minutes to discuss topics such as current research, teaching interests, academic approaches or other engaging teaching issues. The events will be open to students, so please consider that there will be a mixed audience when developing potential topics of discussion.

If you’re interested in submitting an informal proposal for the Westside Campus event, please send a short abstract of your proposal (no more than 250 words) to faculty members Brandon Morgan ( bmorgan19@cnm.edu ) and Sue Ruth ( sruth2@cnm.edu ). If you’re interested in the Montoya Campus event, please send proposals to faculty member Colin Olson ( COlson@cnm.edu ). If you’re interested in participating as a panelist or an attendee, please respond to one of the faculty members above with the days and times that would work best for you. Your input will help the committee accommodate as many faculty members as possible. If you have any other questions, please contact the faculty members above.
