New Student Email Launches Monday — Training Video for Students Also Available to Faculty and Support Staff

On Monday, June 18, CNM will introduce all students to a new and more dynamic CNM email service called “Google for Education.” The service, which is a version of Gmail that’s geared for higher education students, will provide students with more features and 25 gigabytes of email storage space. That’s about 500 times the amount of storage space students currently have in their my CNM email system. Students will still access their new Google email account through my CNM when the new email service launches. Faculty and staff who might field questions from students about the new email system can access a video tutorial, tip sheet, frequently asked questions and more information at Students’ email addresses will remain the same – – and they will still use their same CNM username and password to access their new email account. All of their email in their my CNM account will be automatically transferred to their new Google account by ITS.

Reply to Faculty Letters of Appointment by June 22

Letters of Appointment for faculty members should have been received during the week of June 4-8.  They were distributed to CNM instructors’ email addresses from the Faculty Contracts Administrator ( ). The subject line reads “Summer 2012 Contracts.” To avoid any interruptions in receiving pay, instructors should expedite review and acceptance of the Letters of Appointment and respond to the email with an “I accept” reply no later than 5 p.m. on June 22 .  Faculty members who teach for more than one school will receive separate LOAs for each respective school.

Part-time faculty members’ first paycheck for full-term courses is scheduled for Friday, June 22. Pay for short-term courses is scheduled to begin on June 22 or later depending on the start date of the class. Pay for late-start classes will begin the pay period of when courses are taught. There are seven pay periods in the summer term.

Access to my CNM, Blackboard Interrupted Tonight

Due to a necessary technology upgrade, my CNM , Blackboard and Banner Self Service (registration, online payments, grades, Web for Faculty) will not be accessible tonight (June 14) from 10 p.m. to midnight. Also, due to the student email migration to Google, my CNM and Banner Self Service will not be accessible on Monday from 5-6 a.m. If you have questions, contact the ITS Service Desk at or by phone at 224-4357.

Water to Jeannette Stromberg Hall Will Be Turned Off on Friday
As part of the construction work being done on Jeannette Stromberg Hall, water to JS will have to be turned off on Friday (June 15). The water will be turned off at approximately 8 a.m. for about eight hours.

New Indirect Cost Rate for Grants and Contracts Effective July 1
The CNM Indirect Cost rate has been revised and is effective July 1 through June 30, 2016. The new approved rate of 35 percent should be used on grant requests and contracts. A copy of the new approved rate can be found on the Business Office Contracts & Grants page . Grant requests that do not allow for indirect costs or limit the amount that can be requested to less than the approved rate need to have the President’s approval on the Grant Impact and Approval Form.  The Grant Impact and Approval Form can be found on the Foundation’s website. Your Input Wanted for CNM-UNM-Sunport Transportation Study
CNM employees, students and the public at large are invited to attend a public forum to gather input related to travel issues in the area of CNM, UNM and the Sunport. At the meeting, an overview of a study conducted on travel issues and transportation needs in the area will be presented for feedback. The public meeting will take place on June 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the Heights Community Center Dance Hall at 823 Buena Vista Dr. SE. The meeting is being hosted by the Mid-Region Council of Governments . For more information, call 247-1750.

Be Prepared for Year-End Purchases
With the end of the fiscal year, June 30, quickly approaching, be sure to prepare for end-of-year purchases. The Business Office has released its 2012 Year-End Memo, outlining all due dates and requirements for year-end purchases. Please review the memo to ensure that your purchases are paid out of the current fiscal year. Control Agents should have already received a hard copy along with a list of open purchase orders. Please Provide Access to Fire Marshalls if They Visit Your Area
Please be aware that the Fire Marshal has the authority to access all areas of CNM property. If an identified Fire Marshal visits your area at CNM and wants to tour the area, please accommodate. The Fire Marshal is currently conducting an audit of CNM property.

Lactation Stations Provided for Employees and Students
Several private locations have been designated as “Lactation Stations” for employees or students to pump breast milk. The locations are: Main Campus, Student Services Center Room 206 (Student Health Center); Montoya Campus, I Building Room 211 and G Building Room 201 (ask staff at front desks for access); South Valley Campus, SV-32 (ask staff in SV-40 for access); and Westside Campus, MJG Building Room 201-C (ask staff at front desk for access).

Massages Offered at Student Health Center
The Main Campus Student Health Center is now offering massage therapy services on Wednesdays from 3-5:30 p.m. The student price is $45 for an hour, $25 for 30 minutes. The employee price is $55 for an hour, $30 for 30 minutes. Make an appointment by calling 224-3080.

Max Salazar Hall Receiving New Carpet
New carpet will be installed in Max Salazar Hall throughout June. The odor emitted from the new carpet is not harmful and will only remain for a short time.

ITS Maintenance Outages Scheduled for June 30, July 21
Due to some upgrades and maintenance that ITS will be performing this summer, the following outages are scheduled:

  • Saturday, June 30 , 8 a.m.-midnight — There will be no access to Banner, email, the front page of, the K and I Drives, Sharepoint, my CNM and voicemail. Anyone on campus will still have phone service and access to Blackboard.
  • Saturday, July 21 , 8 a.m.-midnight — Possible intermittent internet outages may occur.

Job Connection Services (JCS) is hosting workshops throughout the summer to help students and recent graduates learn more about résumé writing and job interview strategies. Encourage students to take advantage of these valuable workshops.
