CNM Closed Wednesday, July 4

Classes will not be held and all offices will be closed Wednesday, July 4, in honor of Independence Day. CNM wishes you a happy and safe holiday!

Electronic Timesheets Due Early Because of Independence Day Holiday

Because of the Independence Day holiday on July 4, payroll must be processed early in order to meet the July 6 payday. All electronic timesheets must be approved and submitted by the supervisor/approver by Friday, June 29 at 1 p.m., in order for employees to be paid on July 6. Please call 224-4444 if you have questions or concerns.

Governing Board Meeting July 10 Moved to South Valley Campus

The regular monthly CNM Governing Board meeting will take place on July 10 at the South Valley Campus. It was originally scheduled for Westside Campus. The September Governing Board meeting is scheduled to be held at Westside Campus.

Payroll Deduction Changes Effective July 1

Effective July 1, the temporary 1.75 percent contribution that CNM employees have been making to the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board retirement fund for the past year will be shifting from the employee to the employer (CNM), resulting in an increase in employee’s net take-home pay. Also effective July 1, the New Mexico Retiree Health Care Authority (NMRHCA) contributions will increase by 0.083 percent. The employee deduction is increasing from .917 percent to 1 percent.  Additionally, CNM’s portion of the contribution is increasing from 1.834 percent to 2 percent.

Due to system maintenance, the following services will not be available on Saturday, June 30, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

  • Wireless network access on all campuses
  • Network printing on all campuses
  • Voicemail messaging

  • Any applications using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Power Clock

Fiscal Year ‘13 Budgets Now Available
Budgets for the 2013 fiscal year have been completed and are now available for viewing or download through Banner or Finance Self Service. If you manage your department’s budget, log in to my CNM and click on the Finance tab to view your department’s information. The labor budgets have been adjusted for the FY13 compensation increase as well. If you have any questions please contact the Budget Office: Jan Nixon 224-4441 or Debbie Martinez 224-3462.

CNM Conference on Teaching and Learning Set for Oct. 19
The CNM Cooperative for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will host the first annual CNM Conference on Teaching and Learning on Friday, Oct. 19. The location will be determined later this summer. The conference, which will be for CNM faculty and led by CNM faculty, will feature a wide variety of speakers on a range of topics relevant to all CNM faculty members. Are you a faculty member interested in presenting at the conference? Click here to submit a conference proposal – deadline for submissions is July 27. To help make this conference the best that it can be, if you’re a faculty member please click here to complete a short survey about your interest. By completing this survey and providing your email address, you’ll also be entered into a drawing for dinner for two at a local restaurant.

Students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Fields Invited to Check Out UNM
CNM students interested in pursuing bachelor’s degrees in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields are invited to join a “STEM UP Walk-about” at the University of New Mexico on Friday, June 29, or Friday, July 27. Students who would like to take the tour this Friday should meet STEM UP representatives at 8 a.m. at the entrance to the Student Services Center on Main Campus. Students will walk across the street to a UNM bus stop to be transported to UNM. Students will visit the UNM Biology Department, Engineering Department, Student Union Building and other student services locations. The tour is part of a CNM-UNM grant-funded partnership called Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Undergraduate Pathways (STEM UP). Students who plan to attend should RSVP by emailing stemup@unm.edu .

Preparations for Demolition of Buena Vista Properties Begin July 2
The houses on the northeast corner of Buena Vista and Coal that are owned by CNM will begin to be prepared for demolition on Monday, July 2. Please obey all signs and fencing in the area as construction crews work at the property.

Applications are now being accepted for the CNM Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award. This prestigious award serves to recognize CNM alumni who have attained distinction in his or her professional field or life which reflects the mission and values of CNM.
