Student Job Fair Set for Feb. 29 – More Than 45 Employers Expected
Job Connection Services will host its annual Student Job Fair on Wednesday, February 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Workforce Training Center. More than 45 employers are expected to be represented. The job fair will allow students to meet employers and learn about possible career opportunities. Many of the employers will have current job openings. CNM students and graduates are encouraged to visit Job Connection Services prior to the event to polish their résumés, fine-tune their interview skills, and devise strategies for making a favorable impression at this event. Make Your Voice Heard on Academic Calendar Proposal Blog
Weigh in with your thoughts about the Academic Calendar proposal through an interactive blog discussing the pros and cons of moving the college from the current three-term schedule to a semester-based schedule. The blog now has a discussion board feature. After logging on to the blog, look for the "Discussion Board" link in the upper left column. The blog is hosted in Blackboard Learn. Attached to this e-mail is a set of instructions to enroll for the blog. Even if you're currently a Blackboard user, you will need to "self-enroll" to access the blog. Use your regular CNM username and password to log in and follow the attached directions. Go to http://learn.cnm.edu/ to join in the discussion. Nominate a Student for Women in Non-Traditional Career Awards
The CNM Chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges is taking nominations for its Women in Non-Traditional Career Awards, which will be presented on March 29. Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate a female student in a non-traditional, typically male-dominated career field such as construction, welding, aviation maintenance, etc. You can make a nomination by filling out the form attached to this e-mail and returning it to AAWCC President Erica Volkers either by e-mail or by dropping it off in Max Salazar Hall, Room 414 on Main Campus by February 24. Black History Month Celebrations Continue
The celebration of Black History Month continues with the Brown Bag Lecture series in the Main Campus Library outside of SRC 103 on Wednesday, Feb. 29 from noon to 1 p.m. UNM's Dr. Sonia Rankin will host a community discussion entitled "Where Would Black America Be Without The Help?" At 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29, the Main Campus Book Club will hold a discussion on Toni Morrison's "The Bluest Eye." Copies are available for checkout at the Main Campus Library. Student E-mail Will Be Inaccessible March 9-14 for Maintenance
Due to necessary maintenance, students' my CNM e-mail accounts will not be functional from 6 p.m. on Friday, March 9, through 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, which is the week of Spring Break. Farewell Reception Planned for Xeturah Woodley
A farewell reception honoring Xeturah Woodley will be held Friday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Resource Center, Room 204 on Main Campus. Stop by to wish her well in her next position as vice president of instruction for the Community College of Aurora in Colorado. Woodley, currently associate vice president for Academic Affairs and interim dean of the school of Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, will be resigning from CNM in March.

Faculty Encouraged to Submit Proposals for Faculty Brown Bag Series in April
Planning is under way for the continuation of the Faculty Professional Brown Bag series that began in fall 2011. Two spring 2012 events will occur on yet to be determined dates in April at the Montoya and Westside campuses. The Faculty Professional Brown Bag series provides faculty members with opportunities to share current research efforts or teaching interests with other faculty members, and it provides a great opportunity to meet and network with faculty members from other parts of the college. Organizers are seeking proposals from those interested in being part of a faculty panel. Panel members will be allotted 10 to 15 minutes to discuss topics such as current research, teaching interests, academic approaches or other engaging teaching issues. The events will be open to students, so please consider that there will be a mixed audience when developing potential topics of discussion.
Financial Aid to Host Informational Events During Financial Aid Awareness Week
Today (Feb. 23), CNM's Financial Aid office will host a financial aid presentation from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Student Resource Center Room 205 on Main Campus, and a FAFSA presentation and workshop from 6-8 p.m. in Smith Brasher Hall Room 100 on Main Campus. The events are part of the national Financial Aid Awareness Week. For more info, call 224-3090.
Beware of Phishing Emails
Many CNM e-mail accounts have received fraudulent phishing e-mails recently. A common form of "phishing" are e-mails that claim to be from a legitimate organization, or college-related department, asking for personal information such as passwords, birthdates, social security numbers, etc. Please remember that CNM will never ask for your personal information through e-mail, so do not respond to any suspicious e-mails or open any attachments associated with them. If you receive suspicious e-mails, do not respond to them; just delete them out of your mailbox. To find out more about e-mail scams, click here .

Read to Me Program Seeking Book Donations
The CNM Foundation is currently accepting donated books for children until March 31. Books will go to benefit children in the community through the Albuquerque Business & Education Compact. Contact the CNM Foundation at 224-4686 if you would like to donate books. They can be picked up, you can put them in interoffice mail or drop them off at the Foundation Office on Main Campus, A Building, Room 130.
New Maintenance and Operations Supervisor Appointed at Montoya Campus
The Physical Plan Department has appointed Wayne Kibler to the position of Maintenance and Operations Supervisor at the Montoya Campus.
Spring ITS Computer Lab Imaging Schedule Available
ITS will soon be preparing the CNM computer labs for the upcoming Summer 2012 term by completing computer lab imaging. ITS staff would like to encourage faculty to review the schedule and provide feedback if there are issues or concerns by contacting the ITS Service Desk at email@example.com , or calling 224-4495.
