CNM, IAIA Sign Liberal Arts Agreement to Ease Transfer Process

Central New Mexico Community College and Institute of American Indian Arts representatives signed agreements this week to help ease the transfer process for liberal arts students.

The signing marked the fifth “2+2” program agreement between CNM and another higher education institution in the state. This agreement will make it easier for students who earn an associate of arts in fine arts at CNM to transfer into the bachelor of fine arts studio arts program at IAIA.

“This agreement provides a wonderful new opportunity for CNM students to continue their education in the arts,” said Dr. Beth Pitonzo, CNM’s vice president for Academic Affairs.

"IAIA is pleased to begin a partnership with CNM that will ultimately increase educational opportunities for students in the arts by providing transfer students an additional opportunity to complete their bachelor of fine arts degree,” said Dr. Robert Martin(Cherokee), president of IAIA. “I hope that this agreement facilitates future collaboration between the two institutions that will benefit our respective missions, programs, faculty members and students."

CNM has signed other agreements with the University of New Mexico in areas of business administration, liberal arts and university studies.
