CNM, New Mexico Highlands University Strengthen Partnership, Sign 2+2 Agreement
On Friday, June 19 representatives from Central New Mexico Community College and New Mexico Highlands University signed a 2+2 agreement that will allow students to take the first two years of coursework for a bachelor’s degree in social work at CNM, then seamlessly transfer to Highlands University for the final two years of coursework.
Highlands offers its social work bachelor’s degree program, which has concentrations in clinical practice and government non-profit management, at its Rio Rancho site. CNM offers a social work concentration within its Child, Youth, and Family Development degree that will fully articulate with the Highlands program.
This is the first 2+2 agreement between CNM and Highlands University. Both schools also signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Friday that calls for the two schools to develop more 2+2 agreements that will provide more opportunities for students to succeed in higher education.
“This commitment between CNM and New Mexico Highlands University to increase collaboration is another encouraging development for students across the region,” said Dr. Susan Murphy, CNM vice president for external affairs. “This agreement will create more pathways for students to achieve success in higher education.”
CNM also has transfer agreements with seven other four-year institutions. To learn more about transfer agreements between CNM and other institutions, go to www.cnm.edu/transfer.
