CNM Selects Winograd as Its Next President
The Governing Board of Central New Mexico Community College voted unanimously to select Katharine Winograd as its next president, effective July 1. Winograd will succeed current president Michael Glennon, who is scheduled to retire on June 30.
Winograd, who has been an administrator at CNM for 10 years and currently serves as vice president for planning and budget, will be the fifth president of the 41-year-old college and its first female president.
CNM, the state’s second-largest postsecondary institution, conducted a nationwide search that produced six finalists. Each finalist went through a two-day interview process that included campus visits and open forums.
“We’re delighted to appoint Ms. Winograd,” said CNM Governing Board Chair Richard Barr. “Her extensive higher education administrative experience, knowledge of CNM and New Mexico, and commitment to our students and their success position her as the ideal candidate to succeed president Glennon.”
Winograd earned her Master’s of Science degree from the University of Louisville (Ky.) and is currently in the Doctoral of Education program at the University of New Mexico. She expects to earn her doctorate degree from UNM in May.
Prior to joining CNM, Winograd served in various positions for the Kentucky Council on Higher Education, the University of Louisville, Fayette County (Ky.) Public Schools and UNM’s College of Education.
