Attention Faculty: New Payroll Processes in Effect

Beginning with the current pay period, payroll and leave reporting processes for full-time and part-time faculty will be changing. An electronic leave reporting process has been implemented within the academic schools. Attached to this e-mail are instructions on how to submit leave requests through the new Leave Reporting Form. Faculty members will complete and submit their electronic Leave Reporting Form to their supervisor. The supervisor will review and approve or return the leave request to the faculty member for additional information via electronic processes. The current paper Leave Request form will no longer be used by full-time and part-time faculty.

Also effective with the pay period beginning Aug. 31, full-time and part-time faculty members will no longer fill out paper timesheets for their regular pay. If a faculty member does not take any leave in a specific pay period, there will be nothing to fill out. If leave is taken, the aforementioned Leave Reporting Form must be submitted. However, paper timesheets will continue to be required for faculty extra compensation and substitute pay. For more information, call the Payroll department at Ext. 4460.

Show Your Sign of Support for CNM’s Day of Building Community
Follow this video link to learn how you can show your sign of support for building community at CNM. CNM’s Day of Building Community, formerly known as Convocation, will kick off at 8 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, in the Smith Brasher Hall parking lot, where employees will have the opportunity to add momentum to the sustainability movement by donating clothes and books to the Storehouse and by dropping off unneeded documents and papers that can be shredded and recycled. The “Shred-it” company’s recycle truck can accept paper with staples, paperclips and even three-ring binders and spiral notebooks. At 9 a.m., employees can choose to participate in one of two options. You can attend facilitated discussions on student success or you can volunteer to participate in service projects around Main Campus. More info on these options will be available soon. At 11 a.m., employees will gather for a picnic at Roosevelt Park, where President Kathie Winograd will open up the picnic with a few words. The new site will still have the same look and feel of the current site.  However, there will be some changes in how the Blackboard service is accessed and how course enrollment is managed.

These are the most noticeable differences for users:

The new site will still have the same look and feel of the current site.  However, there will be some changes in how the Blackboard service is accessed and how course enrollment is managed.

These are the most noticeable differences for users:  Delete the highlighted and keep bullets below.

n  To access the new Blackboard site you will now log on to myCNM by using your CNM network user name and password.

n  Students will no longer have to self-enroll into classes; this will all be handled by the integration process.  This integration process should eliminate the need for  students to enroll themselves into course sections . The integration process will automatically add/remove students from class sections as they add and drop courses.

n  Faculty will also be automatically added to the sections they are teaching.

n  Students will no longer have to call Embanet or the Distance Learning department to reset their password; they can simply go to http://password.cnm.edu and reset it.

Inform Students of Textbook Tax Credit Worth Up to $2,500
The federal economic stimulus package includes a new Textbook Tax Credit that many students are eligible to claim. For each eligible student, the tax credit is worth up to $2,500. For example, if a student has out-of-pocket expenses for course materials or tuition and fees during the 2009-2010 academic year that no other scholarship, grant or financial aid covers, the student may be able to claim those expenses as a tax credit with documentation. Take Advantage of New LIBROS Service through CNM Libraries

In the summer, the CNM Libraries joined the LIBROS consortium, allowing people to easily search for books owned both by CNM and many other academic libraries across the state. Once students, faculty, and staff activate their library accounts at any one of CNM’s four library locations, they can use CNM’s many library resources, manage their library accounts online and check out books from the University of New Mexico libraries. To activate their accounts, students, faculty and staff need to bring their CNM ID and sign an authorization form, allowing their name, CNM ID number, and CNM e-mail account to be stored in the system. Faculty and staff only need to sign this form once, but students will need to fill out a new form each term and show their current class schedule.

CNM Grant Writer Position Relocated to CNM Foundation

Much More Enrollment Data at Your Fingertips
Faculty and staff can now dive deeper than ever before into the fluctuating tides of student enrollment trends at CNM. The Office of Information Technology Services and the Office of Planning, Budget and Institutional Research have unveiled the new Student Enrollment Dashboard, which provides up-to-the-minute enrollment counts by campus, school and discipline, all the way down to the course level, as well as graphical displays of multi-year enrollment trends. Its interactive reporting capabilities allow users to drill for even finer levels of detail, create charts and export data into a spreadsheet. The new dashboard is also the home for CNM’s new “Crystal Ball,” which predicts annual and end-of-term enrollment based on current registration data.

The new dashboard is powered by CNM’s Argos reporting software and is accessible from myCNM via the “Employees” tab, located across the upper portion of the page after you sign in using your regular CNM username and password.
