Theater Department Seeks Short Skits That Can Tickle an Audience’s Funny Bone
If you’ve ever watched Saturday Night Live or another comedy skit show and thought about how you’d like to make an audience crack up, here’s your chance. The CNM Theater Department is accepting original short comedy plays and skits for its spring 2010 production at the Vortex Theatre. All current CNM students, faculty and staff are eligible to submit a one-two page play/skit for consideration. The theme for the comic skits is: “We humans are loveably nuts.” But don’t let the word “humans” hamstring your ideas – animals are welcome too. So are all comedic genres, like screwball comedy, political satire, parodies, cheesy horror, mini-mockumentaries, reality shows, etc. A script must be one-two pages typed in 12-point font and feature one to 10 characters in the cast. The deadline for submission is Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. and they must be submitted electronically to Joe Damour at jdamour@cnm.edu. Start thinking about your original play/skit idea and maybe you’ll see it on stage. Contact Joe Damour at jdamour@cnm.edu or Susan Erickson at serickson@cnm.edu with questions.
