CNM offers short-term counseling to any currently enrolled student.

There is no charge for the service but the student is responsible for keeping the appointment or giving a MINIMUM of 24 HOURS NOTICE when canceling or rescheduling an appointment.

After Hours and Weekends

CNM does not provide after hours or weekend emergency mental health services. In case of an after-hours mental health emergency, you need to call the New Mexico State Mental Health Crisis Line: (855) 662-7474 or dial 911.

Some of the common reasons why students might seek counseling:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Substance abuse
  • Domestic violence
  • Anger management
  • Relationship problems
  • Mental health concerns

The purpose of Student Counseling Services at CNM is to help students function successfully in their academic lives. When students are faced with excessive stress or difficult personal problems, psychological or psychiatric support may be helpful or necessary.

Student Counseling Services offers assessments, brief therapy (six appointments) and referrals to mental health providers in the community who will accept insurance or provide services on a sliding scale basis.
