MSE Engineering Assesment

The Associate of Engineering Degree program has recently come under the purview of the Mathematics, Science, and Engineering (MSE) Schools at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). The program provides students with a strong academic background in the fundamental math and science courses typically found in the first two years of a Bachelor's of Engineering Degree.  The program is still under development and the engineering program is currently working to align the learning outcomes outlined under the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology or ABET www.abet.org with those required by CNM.  While this board strictly reviews four-year and graduate level programs, adopting their standards will help ensure that students are adequately prepared for transfer into a four-year degree program.

Draft of Current Student Outcomes for Adoption by MSE from ABET

  1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  2. Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  3. Function on multi-disciplinary teams
  4. Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
  5. Have an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  6. Communicate effectively
  7. Have the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
  8. Have knowledge of contemporary issues
