College & Career High School Hosting Open House Wednesday

Feb. 6, 2014 -- CNM’s College & Career High School will host an Open House for community members, as well as current students and their families. Attendees will learn about what’s ahead for the promising dual-credit high school and can meet the teachers and staff.

The Open House will take place Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the College and Career High School located in the S Building on CNM's Main Campus.

The College & Career High School, a partnership between CNM and Albuquerque Public Schools, opened in August 2013 with 70 inaugural students. The school is located on CNM’s Main Campus and provides high school sophomores, juniors and seniors with a curriculum that focuses on dual credit opportunities, allowing students to graduate from high school with a CNM certificate, associate degree or enough college credits to enter a university as a junior.

Students spend part of their day in high school classes taught by APS teachers, and part of their day in CNM dual credit college classes that count for both high school and college credits. The college credits are transferrable to state universities.

Tuition and textbooks for the CNM dual credit classes are free for students, which can save thousands of dollars on a college education.

The inaugural student body of CCHS posted a cumulative 3.16 grade point average at the end of the fall semester, their first semester at the school.
