Formerly the senior director of Contracts and Grants for the Business Office, she has more than 20 years of experience in governmental financial management.

She says she is very confident in her Purchasing staff and looks forward to seeing them serve the purchasing needs of departments and schools around the college.

CNM's Purchasing Department is responsible for the procurement of all tangible goods, services and construction for the college. The Purchasing department is designated as the official "central purchasing office," and the director of Purchasing has been designated as the "purchasing officer." As such, Helms is responsible for ensuring that CNM follows procurement rules, policies and procedures.
