Do I have to have a permit to park at CNM?
Yes; a general or paid parking permit is required to park on any CNM property. To obtain the general parking permit, you must first register your vehicle online through myCNM followed by picking up the permit at the Security Office at Main, Montoya, and Westside Campuses, the Admissions Office at Rio Rancho and South Valley Campus, and at the Front Desk at the Advanced Technology Center. Visit the myCNM website to purchase a paid parking permit. Financial Aid may be used to purchase a paid parking permit.
Individuals with State issued disabled placards do not need a permit but their state issued disabled placard must be properly displayed while parking on CNM property.
Main campus Free Lots
Main campus offers two primary types of permits. One permit which is known as the general parking permit is issued at no cost for the non-fee lots. The parking lots located at the Isotopes Baseball stadium and the UNM West Lots also require a general parking permit and are for overflow parking. The general parking permits are available online through myCNM and can be picked up at the Security Office at Main, Montoya, and Westside Campuses, the Admissions Office at Rio Rancho and South Valley Campuses, and at the Front Desk at the Advance Technology Center.
The second type of permit issued through CNM is for the paid/reserved lots which can be purchased at a cost of $43. Paid parking permits are available online through myCNM. This permit allows the owner of the permit to park in the specific paid lot. The paid permits are available in the following lots: North, Central, JS, PPD, Upper SSC, and TC.
What time of day does parking enforcement end?
Parking enforcement operates during the school terms (fall, spring and summer). CNM Parking Services hours of enforcement in paid/reserved areas are Monday - Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Paid/Reserved areas are open for non-fee parking (no permit required) after 4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, on Fridays, weekends, and during semester breaks. Parking enforcement with regard to fire lanes, parking for the disabled or violations related to health/safety issues is year-round, seven days a week, 24 hours/day. Meters are enforced Mondays - Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Defective meters should be reported immediately to Parking Services at (505) 224-4000 Ext. 51622.
These lots are restricted to permit holders. During school terms, parking enforcement is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Paid/Reserved lots will be open and will not require a parking permit on weekdays Monday-Thursday after 4:30pm, and Friday through Sunday. Permits are checked only during the enforcement period. Permit parking is not enforced Saturdays and Sundays or during term breaks and holidays.
Where can I pay a citation?
You may pay parking fines at the CNM Main Campus Cashiers Office located in the Student Services Building. You may also mail in your fine payments to Parking Services, 525 Buena Vista SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Citations must be paid within 16 calendar days from issuance.
How can I appeal a citation?
Citation appeal forms can be printed online or picked up on Main campus at the Security Office located in the Public Safety Bldg. Appeal forms must be turned into the Security Office within the 16 calendar days of issuance.
Can I park my hybrid vehicle with the city's free meter parking permit on campus and not pay the meter?
The City's hybrid meter permits are valid for municipal parking meters only. Individuals parking on CNM property must still pay in a metered space.
