Purchase a Permit

CNM Parking Enforcement

Parking Services ensures the availability of parking for CNM students, faculty, and staff members.

Parking Services enforcement personnel have the authority to control lot access, issue parking citations, impound vehicles, recommend sanctions to CNM administration, and advise security and traffic enforcement personnel of regulation violations.

Permit Display

Parking permit decals must be displayed in the lower left front driver-side window on the interior of the vehicle. Hangtag permits must be clearly displayed on the rearview mirror inside of your vehicle with the permit number facing out.

Improper display of permits may result in a citation. Failure to properly display a current parking permit may result in parking citations and/or the vehicle being towed at the owner's expense.

Permit Types

Permits provide lot safety and allow Parking Services to contact you if your vehicle is blocking traffic, needs to be moved in an emergency, or has been vandalized.

Please note: Permits are not valid in Parkmobile spaces.

General Parking Permits

General parking permits are available as decals for $7.50 a semester or $17.50 annually starting with the academic year in August. General parking permits can park in the blue lots, which you can find on our interactive maps. General Parking Permits are only valid in General Parking Lots.

Reserved Parking Permits

Reserved parking permits are available for $65.00 per semester. Full-time employees may purchase an Annual Payroll Deduction permit for $195 with a $7.50 deduction per paycheck. Reserved parking permits can park in any lot, which you can find on our interactive maps

Motorcycle, Moped, and Scooter Permits

Motorcycles, mopeds, and scooter permits are $17.50 annually. CNM has provided designated motorcycle parking areas on all campuses. All motorcycles/scooters must park in the designated motorcycle parking areas regardless of weight or size unless you have paid for metered parking.

Permits should be displayed anywhere on the front of the motorcycle, moped, or scooter that is visible to be seen by enforcement personnel. The last six digits of the VIN are used in place of a license plate number in the event your scooter does not have a license plate number.

If more than one motorcycle, moped, or motor scooter is parked in a metered space, all vehicles will be cited.

Dealership and Rental Cars

A temporary parking permit can be issued to your dealership or rental vehicle on a short-term basis. If you need a longer time period, you must re-submit an application for a new temporary parking permit from Parking Services. Temporary parking permits are to be used in general parking lots only.

If you have only dealer plates, you must register your vehicle with the last six digits of your vehicle's VIN. Call Parking Services once you receive your permanent license plate number so your records can be updated.

Additional Information

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

CNM has charging stations for electric vehicles in various places throughout Main Campus. The AC Level Two Charging Stations are free to use for three hours. Vehicles parked in these spaces beyond the three-hour time limit may be cited. Your vehicle must be actively charging while parked in these spaces.

Update Your Vehicle Information

As a permit holder, you are responsible for updating your vehicle information with Parking Services. This includes any changes to your vehicle ownership or license plate information for any registered vehicles. Failure to do so may result in citations, impoundment of your vehicle, and the loss of parking privileges on campus.

Parking Permit Replacement

First replacement: $25

Second replacement: Must be approved by the Parking Services Manager. A $25 fee will be administered to the permit holder.

If your parking permit is stolen or lost, you must report the incident within 48 hours to Parking Services at (505) 224-4637. Contact Security only to report a permit stolen while on campus. Permits stolen off campus should be reported to the police department in the jurisdiction of the theft.

Unreported stolen permits will be considered active, and if found on an unregistered vehicle, the vehicle will be impounded and a fine assessed at the permit holder's expense. As a permit holder, you will be responsible for all fines.

A stolen permit, once reported, will be placed on a stolen permit hot sheet. Parking Services personnel will be on the lookout for the stolen permit around campuses.

Administrative fees must be paid in full at the Cashier's Office before a new permit will be issued.
