The Executive Council of Students (ECOS) is CNM's student government organization.

Purpose

  • Represent student issues to administration, faculty, and staff.
  • Develop and improve internal policies that affect the student body.
  • Network with other colleges/universities to share information and exchange ideas.
  • Promote student community by gathering and disseminating information regarding student leadership opportunities, Executive Council of Students activities and projects, and other student-related issues.
  • Develop scholarship and funding through outreach to state and local legislative structures, New Mexico colleges and universities, and other groups interested in funding student scholarships.
  • Implement projects that promote awareness of student programs, clubs, student success, and safety.

Student Resources

How to Join ECOS

To join ECOS, you must:

  • Be in “good standing” with CNM
  • Maintain active enrollment with at least three credit hours per term of expected service (excluding summer term)
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Be an active student with the time and energy necessary to be a contributing member of the ECOS group
  • Attend three consecutive meetings before joining
  • Complete the online ECOS Application
  • Have one or more letters of recommendation emailed directly to ecos@cnm.edu by your recommenders
    • Recommenders should be current or previous instructors

ECOS Meetings

ECOS meetings are Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m., SRC 202D. Virtual meeting link is shared upon request at ecos@cnm.edu.
