Meet the TRiO Staff, TRiO Location and TRiO History
| | Magda Martinez-Baca, Director of TRiO Student Support Services, has been an advocate for educational opportunity throughout her career. Prior to her work with TRiO, she worked in New Mexico and Texas with educational grant programs. She is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and received her bachelor degree in Psychology. | | Rob Carriaga is our Achievement Coach, and is a first generation college graduate with a double major bachelor’s degree in communication and psychology and a master’s degree in counseling. He has worked for over 10 years in higher education as an educational advisor, counselor and adjunct instructor of communication studies. | | Mary Beth Folia is our English tutor. She has lived in Albuquerque since 1992. Before she began teaching, she made her living as a writer and editor, and has authored several publications. She has taught composition and creative writing at UNM and CNM. Mary Beth has a master’s degree in English from UNM, and currently teaches part time for CNM’s ECA department. | | Isaiah Gallegos is our tutor for the physical sciences- Chemistry and Biology. Isaiah is an Albuquerque native and alumni of UNM. He has transitioned nicely into his role at CNM by applying the philosophy, “out with the old, in with the nucleus.” |
| | Willie Smoker is our Office Manager and is a CNM graduate. He graduated in 2001 with an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and a certificate in Pharmacy Technician, both with honors. He is a returning CNM employee who enjoys assisting students along their path to graduation and sees the TRIO program as an excellent platform to do so. She is a native of Albuquerque, and plans to move out of state as soon as she obtains her Interior Designer/Decorator degree. Leticia enjoys the out doors and says that life is too short to worry about the little things. She derives satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection with other people. |
TRiO Location TRiO Student Support Services is located in room S-120 on the 2nd floor of S Building at Main campus, which is located just west of the northeast corner of Buena Vista & Coal.
