Thank you for your interest in the CNM Volunteer Tutor Program. Volunteer tutors act as one-on-one mentors in English as a Second Language, Basic Literacy, Math, and Sciences.

The CNM Volunteer Tutor Program includes the Adult Literacy Movement of Albuquerque (ALMA). ALMA Advocates tutor individuals struggling with reading and writing, and those learning English as a Second Language. In addition, some volunteers tutor in high school-level Math, Reading, and Writing.

We also have limited opportunities to tutor students in more advanced general Math, Calculus (up to Calculus III), Science, Biology, Physics, Statistics, or Chemistry.

The CNM Volunteer Tutor Program is committed to student-centered tutoring. Volunteers and learners work as a team to set and meet student goals. Volunteer tutors are not expected to be professional teachers; they are coaches who observe, advise, and offer strategies for learning. Learners are guided in assessing and monitoring their progress with the help of the volunteer.
