MLI 2008 APPLICATION
Program Concept: The Micali Leadership Institute (MLI) was designed by CNM to be an intensive leadership development program. MLI focuses on leadership challenges in changing times. The four-day leadership retreat program is designed to help participants develop the ability to be proactive rather than reactive and shape the future rather than merely to manage the present. Participants from all areas of CNM are selected to participate in the program.
Goal: At the completion of the retreat, participants will be committed to continual discovery and renewal of personal and professional leadership.
Mission Statement: MLI, an immersion learning experience, provides the opportunity to enhance communication and relationships through exploration and development of leadership potential within the community college environment.

MLI 2008 Objectives and Expectations:
The MLI 2008 spring/fall sequence is an ongoing transformational process, which supports CNM's fifth strategic goal: Innovate in order to sustain CNM's success for future generations.
Participants will:
• Recognize and practice innovation leadership style and skills individually and in teams
• Contribute to creating an environment in which innovation flourishes
• Prepare for developing and implementing innovative strategies
Fall participants are expected to:
• Attend an orientation
• Read conference materials in advance
• Attend the four-day retreat, October 28-31
• Commit to an additional five hours between January and April 2009
These activities provide continuity, structured practice, support and feedback for attendees integrating innovation into their work lives.
